Yulia Musayelyan Quartet
Yulia Musayelyan was born in Moscow, Russia. After relocating to the U.S. in
1993, she studied at the New England Conservatory and in 2005 graduated from
the Manhattan School of Music in New York. As a classical flutist, she has won
awards and distinctions such as the 2001 "National Foundation for the Advancement
in the Arts Award".
Yulia with her quartet will bring a world jazz project that will incorporate
Latin, Armenian and Russian influences into her original compositions.

Mark Zaleski Quintet
Mark Zaleski is a woodwind player from Boylston, MA. Specializing in the alto saxophone, he is also well versed in soprano sax, tenor sax, baritone sax, clarinet, bass clarinet, and flute. After leading a band called "The Eastern Jazz Project" made up of some of the best high school aged musicians Central Massachusetts had to offer, he left Boylston at age 18 to be one of six students to receive a fellowship to study at the Dave Brubeck Institute in Stockton, CA. There he performed throughout the country with jazz luminaries such as Robin Eubanks, Chris Brubeck, Christian McBride, Lesa Terry, Mic Gillette, and Dave Brubeck. After completing that program he moved back to Boston, MA to study with Jerry Bergonzi and Charile Banacos at the New England Conservatory of Muisc. |

The Headhunters
feat Mike Clark, Bill Summers, Geri Allen, John Andrews, and Mark Shim
The Headhunters, legendary jazz-funk fusion band,
immortalized as a result of their long recording and touring stint with jazz giant Herbie Hancock. Hancock's "Headhunters" album was the first to be recorded with the group and has been heralded as the first platinum Jazz/Fusion project in history. Thrust, Flood, Manchild and other historic recordings followed. The band went on to
produce more seminal records on their own, including
Survival of the Fittest ,which featured the funk anthem 'God Make Me Funky,' one of the most sampled jazz/fusion songs in modern music history.
The Headhunters' music is a complex but harmonious
blend of many styles and genres, spanning the globe, from Africa to Broadway. The group is acclaimed for its musical pioneering and innovative conceptsOn Top, title of the New Headhunters release, recorded "Live In Europe", brings the group full circle. The project features Bill and Mike plus an all star cast which includes, Donald Harrison (sax), Mark Shim (sax), T.M. Stevens (bass) and Jerry Z (keys). This is smoking nonstop flow of contagious energy. The audience response is awesome and you will literally find yourself amongst the crowd as you absorb, listen and move to the groove. This is by far the fattest, hottest recording the Headhunters have produced since their ground breaking efforts with Herbie Hancock.

Natalia Bernal & Katerina Polemis "Potensa Pura"
Natalia Bernal and Katerina Polemis bring to Ryles their global tapestries of free Latin music. Introducing their new compositions in Spanish, Portuguese and English, along with some latin jazz standards. Polemis and Bernal represent a new wave of Latin American musicians who interpret jazz, funk, blending the music of their own native countries with a distinctive twist.
Melissa Aldana Quartet
Melissa Aldana, born in Santiago-Chile, began playing saxophone very early in her life. She studied with her father Marcos Aldana, and has become the third generation of a great Chilean legacy of sax players. At the age of 9, she was already playing gigs with her own quartet.

Mara-a-Pula Marimba Band from Botswana
Event will begin at 7 PM with two Milton Academy jazz combos. The Mara-a-Pula (MAP) marimba band will begin at 9 PM
The MAP Marimba Band is Botswanas topmost marimba ensemble. As winners
of BOMA (Botswana Music Awards) and nominees for SAMA (South African Music
Awards), their performance of NINE MARIMBAS is one of a kind. This band is
unique in that it is made up predominantly of young female performers.
These dynamic young people are always a delight to watch, as their hands
fly, and hammers pound out original Tswana, Shona, Ndebele, and
contemporary vibes, song after song. |

Pianist Jose Negroni was born in Ponce, Puerto Rico. He received a bachelor's degree from the Conservatorio de Música de Puerto Rico, where he also taught for over sixteen years while establishing a successful career as one of the island's most sought-after musical directors, producers, and arrangers. He has worked with pop artists Chayanne, Carmita Jimenez, Yolandita Monge, Jose Luis Rodriguez and Braulio among others, as well as with Jazz greats Ed Calle on saxophone, percussionist Sammy Figueroa, trombonist Juan Pablo Torres and renowned violinist Federico Brito. |

Carmen Marsico & Bjorn Wennas
The team of Swedish guitarist Wennas and Italian vocalist Marsico perform improvisations
on traditional music from Italy and Sweden as well as many of their own compositions.
Joining them will be Todd Marston on piano, Fender Rhodes, and accordion; Daniel
Blake on saxophones; Kendall Eddy on bass; Miki Matsuki on drums; and Michael
Daillak on percussion.
