Nando Michelin presents his new
CD "Reencontro"
in a show that features vocalist/trumpet Leala Cyr Vogt, bass player
Keala Kaumeheiwa, and drummer Tiago Michelin, as well as himself
on Piano, band that performed at venues like the Philadelphia Art
Museum, WGBH, and many more.
The CD features the Bass and vocals of the great Esperanza
Spalding. Nando's music has a strong South American influence,
but it's guided by an emphasis on collective improvisation. This
is Nando's 8th CD as a leader.

The International String Trio
The International String Trio is a truly unique string ensemble that
consists of violin, guitar and acoustic bass. The group prides itself
on its stylistic diversity, delivering gypsy jazz, Appalachian folk,
acoustic world music to virtuosic classical arrangements.
The IST performs at up to 120 events a year, at venues including concert
halls, jazz clubs, universities, schools and private homes. Their shows
are enormously entertaining, as the Trio strives to provide energetic
yet intimate performances. Through these means, their music is instantly
appealing to a wide range of audiences, both large and small, young
and old. The group has a strong following on the East Coast, especially
in the Boston / New England area. (Roughly 5000 + contacts on their
mailing list).
Recent highlights include performances at the Regattabar - Courtyard
Concert Series, Cambridge MA; Fripp Island, SC, for the Friends
of Music Society; Live performance on WGRB Radio. The IST has

Black Sea Salsa Band
Black Sea Salsa Band is a 15-piece World-Music group made up of 6 horns,
4 vocalists, and 5 rhythm, playing an original blend of Armenian music
and Afro-Cuban Jazz. Led by trumpeter Dan Teager, who writes and arranges
the band's repertoire, Black Sea Salsa has established itself as one
of Boston's premier festival bands, playing for venues such as Sail
Boston 2000, Marblehead Arts Festival, Norwood Summerfest, and the
Boston Arts Festival. In addition, the group has been officially recognized
by the Massachusetts Arts Council, which awarded Black Sea Salsa a
grant to perform a series of outdoor concerts in Belmont and Watertown. |

Music that combines the passion of the East with the
contemporary energy of the West. The Marc Rossi Group will perform
music from their critically acclaimed 2008 release Hidden Mandala
and their new cd in progress, Jazz Impressions of a Kriti. Drawing
on influences from jazz masters, Indian music, Latin music, and much

Marc integrates the flavors and sounds of far
continents with the vibrancy and energy of contemporary jazz. The
result is music-making that creates a higher unity on many levels

Returning to Ryles to release
their second CD, The Hereness and Nowness of Things, ESTHEMA has
once again blurred the boundaries between Eastern and Western music.
This time around, their exploration brought them down paths they
had not yet ventured. Eastern Dance explores the beautiful major
sounding Eastern maqam, Houzam, Illusion of Truth's main groove is
based on the Eastern Çiftetelli (Tsifteteli), and Arrhythmia
is based on the Anatolian Zeybek dance (or Zeibekiko).
Boston-based World Fusion ensemble ESTHEMA creates their unique sound
by fusing elements from the traditional music of the Eastern European
Balkan region and the Near/Middle East with Progressive Rock and
various styles of Jazz. The five musicians that shape the sound of
ESTHEMA bring together both Western and Eastern influences, instruments,
and musical concepts. As people, the individuals in ESTHEMA come
from very different places with very different experiences. As musicians,
they bring those places and experiences together into one musical
setting.

and Eastern Taxims, Latin Samba and Eastern Kasilama, Western modes,

Copal is a melding of string fusion with world
beat and electronic influences. Boston/NYC-based electronic string
fusion band inspires audiences with deep dance beats and original
melodies rooted in traditions, Copal creates soundscapes, interweaving
string melodies inspired by Middle Eastern rhythms, dark Nordic songs,
Hungarian riffs, Spanish-flavored cadences and harmonies to paint
pictures and landscapes. Accompanied by tribal-style belly dancing,
the fusion is taken to a new level, traveling from one end of the
globe to another in an eclectic modern mix. The full band features
violin, cello, vocals, synth pads, bass guitar, doumbek, drum kit,
